SHOOTOUT  PROCEDURE
 
� Discuss Shootout at Pre-game
 Check field to determine where shootout shooter will start from (35 yards form goal line).
 Determine which end of field is to be used.
� Have 1 ball handler(s) behind goal to be used. Have other 2 balls in center circle
� Visitors shoot first.
� Explain procedure to coaches.
� All participants except for the goalkeepers, the shooter, the next shooter and the officials must remain at the benches.
� The ball will be placed 35 yards from the goal line. The shooter may place the ball anywhere on that line.
� Shooters will alternate shots for a total of 5 attempts or until an insurmountable number of goals have been scored.
� Goalkeeper may be a shooter
� If there is no winner after the 5 attempts by both teams, then the teams will continue to alternate shots until one teams attains one more goal than its opponent. Both teams take equal number of shots.
� Any player on the roster that is still eligible (not red carded) may participate in the Shootout.
� No player may attempt a second shot in the same round of 10 attempts (i.e. attempts 1 through 10 is the first round of 10, 11 through 20 is the second round of 10)
� The shooter must make an attempt (take the shot) within 5 seconds, after the whistle sounds to begin the attempt.
� A shot taken within the 5 seconds continues in play until it is stopped and controlled by the goalkeeper, or until its inertia dies.
� The shooter may not strike the ball a second time should the ball touch the crossbar, the goal posts, or the goalkeeper. If so attempt is over.
� If the ball strikes an official or other outside agent, the shot shall be repeated.
� Once a shooter is in the center circle, the shooter may not be replaced.
� If a foul is committed by the goalkeeper ANYWHERE on the field, the shot, if good, shall count. If the shot is unsuccessful, a penalty kick will be awarded.
� The Penalty Kick must be taken by the fouled shooter. If injured, then anyone may take the kick, that has not been s shooter in the current round of 10 and that is still eligible. Penalty Kick taker will be counted as part of the current round of 10 along with the injured shooter.
� If a foul is committed by the shooter and the attempt is successful, the goal does not count and the attempt is conclude. If unsuccessful, the attempt is concluded.
� Normal misconduct rules apply during the shootout.
� If the goalkeeper is cautioned and a Penalty Kick is attempted, the goalkeeper must be substituted for. In any event, the goalkeeper may NOT participate in the next shootout attempt nor may the goalkeeper participate in that Penalty Kick.
 
 Referee Duties:

1. Make sure officials and players are ready
2. Record player numbers
3. Assure no encroachment by shooter or goalkeeper.
4. Watch for fouls.
5. Judge if shot is made in time
6. Signal goal/no goal
7. If dual, Assume duties of Goal Line official.
8. KEEP SCORE!
 
 AR2 (Goal Line Official�s) Duties:

1. Record Player Numbers
2. Assure goalkeeper not participating is in proper place
3. Assure that goalkeeper is on goal line.
4. Be goal judge.
5. Start watch with whistle and stop with shot. Determine whether shot was made within the time frame and signal referee goal/no goal.
6. If dual, this position not used.
7. KEEP SCORE!
  
 AR1 (Flag & Whistle Official) Duties:
1 Control Center Circle
2 Make sure ball is properly placed.
3 Stay out of the way of shooter.
4 Remind shooter time starts on whistle and has 5 seconds to take the shot
5 Assure that shooter is ready.
6 Watch for referee signal to begin
7 Lower flag and blow whistle simultaneously.
8 Raise flag and blow whistle at 5 second mark
9 If dual, Record Player Numbers, KEEP SCORE!
 
 Positions: 
 AR1 35 yards from goal (not in way of kicker)
 AR2 On the goal line at the edge of goal area 
 Ref Opposite side of goal from AR2 at top of penalty area 
 Goalkeeper defending shot, at least one foot on goal line between goal posts
 Opposing Goalkeeper behind AR2, off field where penalty area line meets the goal line 
 Next Kicker, In center circle 
 Kicker taking shot Near AR1 - 35 yards from the goal(Visitors kick first) 
 Teams All other players and team personnel shall be behind their touchlines in the designated team areas
 
 Final score of game is one more goal for the shootout winner.
 
 Leave field immediately after final goal!
