The UIL is making the proper uniform a point of emphasis this season. It is also a point of emphasis for TASO Football. The document clarifies the position of both the UIL and TASO.

Jerseys must cover ALL pads. This includes Back pads. Pants must cover the knees.

We want you to make sure that all the crew chiefs are aware of these POEs. WE suggest the crew chiefs have copies of the UIL document to give to any coach that has not received one.

Several things can be done to make enforcement less controversial.

The Umpire can also check uniforms when they check the casts. Head coaches should be informed before the game if players are not properly equipped. This would give the coach time to correct any problems. Extra consideration should be given to visiting teams the first week of the season.

Reports regarding equipment problems must be made on a UIL incident report form. These reports are available on both the UIL and TASO web sites.
