Joy McVean

Georgia: When did you join IF?
Joy: I started here in February of 2004.

G: Where are you from, and where do you live now?
J: I'm from Clear Lake, Texas, south of Houston. But now I live here in Georgetown—Go Eagles!

G: Are you married?
J: Yes, married for 17 years to my college sweetheart.

G: What was the craziest idea you have had as a professional?
J: The craziest idea I had as a professional was thinking that raising a family and having a career could be easily balanced in complete harmony….with no guilt…NOT!

G: What is your favorite part about marketing & advertising?
J: Building relationships with my clients and working alongside the best strategic thinking and creative teams, I believe, in the entire country. It is so rewarding to watch how the total collaboration of our team can impact a client and their success.

G: Tell us something that you have accomplished that you are most proud of?
J: Raising 3 wonderful kids who care about others and are confident in who they are!

G: Who do you look up to? And why?
J: I know how hard it is to raise a family even with the help of a great husband and support of a fabulous family… so I have always admired and looked up to all of the single working moms (or dads) in this world…I can't even begin to image how hard it would be! I also look up to everybody who volunteers in their communities and for causes they believe in.

G: If you could meet one person in the world, who would it be and why?
J: I admire so many people I can't pick just one person here on earth… outside of this earth it sure would be nice to meet The Man (God).

G: Any advice you would give to someone about marketing?
J: Be a good listener. Listen hard to what your client is telling you. It's easy for to get caught up with satisfying our own needs as a company, and then the customer's needs become the byproduct. Thinking strategically for your client is key, however consideration of their wants and needs is really the most important thing in building a trusting and long lasting relationship with your clients.

G: What is your favorite sports team?
J: DUH…University of Texas Longhorn Football Team. Hook 'em Horns!
