Missions both locally and globally - that's the heart of First Baptist Church,
Georgetown. God's command in Acts 1:8 is to be His witnesses on mission
locally, in Jerusalem. . . Georgetown, in Judea . . . Texas/Mexico border, in
Samaria . . . the United States, and to the uttermost parts of the earth. Jesus
didn't elevate one mission field above the others. He commanded that
Christians reach out to all four mission fields - all at the same time.
Throughout its almost 140-year history, First Baptist has been a mission minded
church. But, being "missions-minded" in not enough in our world today. The
challenge is for missions-engaged churches - those that will move to the frontlines
of missions and bless every member of their church to go outside the church
walls to ministry in Christ's name. Will you respond to His command, "Here am I,
send me"?
