Today and the Future

TodayThe emergence of the Georgetown Railroad as a leader in the shortline railroad industry has not come just by chance. It has been through the hard work of all who have been associated with its growth. Currently, GRR is a hub for two (2) Class I railroads, the Union Pacific and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe, and provides services to fifteen industries. With the acquisition of additional rail lines, track miles have increased to almost thirty serving both Williamson and Bell counties. Employing 30 people who are committed to provide the best possible service to their shippers and who take pride in their equipment and facilities, GRR continues to improve the efficiency of its operations. By utilizing computerized in-motion weighing and electronic billing, they have reduced paperwork and eliminated errors. Even though the company can handle in excess of 55,000 cars in a twelve month period, it is always looking for new ways to increase its capacity. The most recent innovation is the self-unloading train or "Dump Train" which has received much recognition in the railroad industry. Georgetown Railroad will continue to capitalize on opportunity, as it has in the past, by being in an ideal location, using and maintaining the best equipment and facilities, employing dedicated people and using technology and innovation to their customer's (YOUR) advantage.
