Eix & Blackwell, Inc. was founded by Carol Eix and Tom Blackwell in 1986 in the Dallas area. Eix & Blackwell relocated to Austin in 1998 and where it has been building fine homes ever since. Eix & Blackwell is successful due to the unique combination of Carol's interior designer skills and Tom's construction experience.

Carol received her Architectural Degree with the Design Option at the University of Texas at Arlington. Carol worked for several design firms in Dallas, such as MBI, Inc. and Medical Space Design, before starting Carol Eix Design in 1984 where she worked mainly in commercial design.

Tom began his career in the building business as a carpenter's helper at the age of 14. In 1972 Tom co-founded B&B Improvement Company in Fort Worth which engaged in all phases of remodeling and building both commercial and residential. In 1981 Tom founded Tom Blackwell Renovations which specialized in the rehabilitation of old homes and commercial construction.

Tom and Carol have been married since 1981 and have two children who are now attending college.
